Kaahui Ako Teacher Only Day

On Friday 16th of June, Hillcrest hosted 14 schools (Early Childhood, Primary Schools, Middle Schools and High School).

The 420+ teachers came together for professional development, networking and or forming new relationships with the end goal of lifting student achievement & wellbeing. Teachers came together to listen to four speakers - Adam Whauwhau (Ngāti Haua), Ngahihi o te ra Bidois & Sir Ian Taylor and Alistair Turner.


1. Adam Whauwhau presented the importance around local curriulum / history,2. Ngahihi o te ra Bidois talked educational leadership3. Alistair Turner - Launch of the Community of Learning Website & importance of weaving in the local stories into the curriculum. 3. Sir Ian Taylor talked about the importance of Mātauranga for all ethnicitie and the future of work and education.
