Hamilton Welcomes International Students

On Tuesday 19 March more than 250 international students new to Hamilton were formally welcomed to the city by the mayor, Paula Southgate, at an event at Te Paa, University of Waikato. Eighteen of our new international students joined students from other secondary schools, Wintec and the university, enjoying hearing from past and present international students, a kapa haka performance from St John's College, the Talents of the Pacific performance, kiwiana food and treats. Mayor Southgate acknowledged the contribution that international students bring to our city not only to the economy but to its cultural vibrancy.
