Kai Kitchen Breakfasts

It was the collision of two goals that led to the creation of Kai Kitchen this year. The first being the wish to do something with an ongoing impact in the head student role, the second being an understanding that many students missed out on kai to start their day, and wanting to respond to that.

Coal boiler Decommissioning at Hillcrest High School

After faithfully serving Hillcrest High School for decades, the trusty boilers that have kept the school warm and cozy are set to retire. Starting from September 15th, these stalwart heating systems will be decommissioned, marking the end of an era.

Maaori Language Month

For the month of Mahuru (September), kaiako across the kura have set themselves a wero (challenge) to use more te reo Māori. For some staff, that has meant leading the school karakia in staff briefing, or beginning their classes with a te reo Māori starter.

Lacrosse Season Review

We had two girls teams this year: the Premier and B team. Both teams played extremely well throughout the season. Our prem team came 6th in their division and the B Team came 7th. It was a bit of a rocky start with alot of our girls going to Great Barrier but we pulled through. Each week they improved so much with alot of our girls being selected into Waikato Rep Teams.

The Y10 Spanish class changed into an art class

At the end of “En Casa” - At home - Unit of work our students learnt about the mosaics of Antonio Gaudí. He was a famous architect who designed amazing buildings in Spain with some beautiful mosaic art in many of them. Spanish students experienced making mosaics in class. They enjoyed this creative activity and some are already planning to participate in more challenging projects.
