Hillmorton Year 7&8 students take out Great Christchurch Technology Construction Challenge 2019!
Congratulations to Logan Smith, Louie Nikau & Taylah Smith - 1st place winners in the Great Christchurch Technology Construction Challenge for 2019.
The team won the annual Y7/8 event, managing to out-build 19 other teams in the construction challenge. With only 7 teams successfully completing the full challenge; being able to scoop up 5 flowers with their constructed device within 1 minute. This team did it in an amazing 15 seconds! Not far behind them, our other Hillmorton team, Mihana Hof, Zoe Thomson, Isabella McNeil and Godwin Deliha N'Zhou completed the task in 30 seconds to finish in 3rd position.
Also at this Technology event, we had two keen Scratch coding teams participating in the 60 minutes Coding Challenge. Matt Cleverly, Josh Horn & Jayden Jones performed admirably finishing on par with the majority of the 20 participating teams. Cameron Bartrum and Cameron Price in our other Scratch team stayed nail-bitingly in the leaders pack through the whole event until the last hurdle, finishing in 5th place only 3 minutes behind the podium winners.
Congratulations to all our participating students. You have represented our school at the highest level in Canterbury and can be proud of your accomplishments. Horomaka - Kia tu Pakari!
