A Kiwi Summer

Pam Hunt —

Our international students have experienced a Kiwi Summer.

Wanting to continue their study with us this year, with border restrictions in place, our international students stayed in New Zealand over the summer holiday period rather than returning to their home countries.

Making the most of the time, they travelled to tourist hot spots, had a Kiwi Christmas, attended English language classes, hung out with host families and friends, volunteered, camped, went to the beach and had a quintessential Diamond Harbour day having fun in and on the water with some great wharf jumps topped off with a barbeque and ice-creams.

Our sincere thanks to our host families for the care and support they provided during this time.

Finally, our best wishes to our international students as they begin another year of study. We respect your courage and admire your spirit - living and studying away from your families and home cultures in a global pandemic is a challenge you face every day. As the Education New Zealand campaign says, Tū Ngātahi - Stand together with our international student community. Kia kaha.
