Here is a guide to the range of subjects students can study at Hillmorton High School.
Years 7 - 8
Year 7 students have 20 hours a week and Year 8 have 17 hours a week in Base Camp with specialist Year 7 and 8 teachers. In addition they classes in Explore in Languages, Physical Education and Health, Science, the Arts and Technology with specialist subject teachers.
Years 9 - 10
Students study English / English Language Learning (ELL), Mathematics, Physical Education and Health, Science and Social Studies in a form class. They also study up to four subjects of their choice from Languages, the Arts and Technology Learning Areas.
Years 11 - 13
Students study six subjects (including English or English Language Learning).
Course work is aligned with the National Certificate in Educational Achievement (NCEA)
Personalised courses to suit your individual needs
Multi-level learning (NCEA Levels 1 - 3)
An alternative end-of-year programme in November for those not doing NCEA.
English Language Learning (ELL)
Hillmorton High School has an excellent English Language Learning programme designed to support the student's life in New Zealand, along with their academic goals. Students can study up to eight hours a week of English Language.
Outdoor Education
Experience New Zealand's great outdoors and stunning scenery with Outdoor Education at Years 10, 11 and 12. The adventure based learning utilises best practice risk management. Activities include: abseiling, camping, climbing, mountain biking, orienteering, rock climbing, sea kayaking, skiing, snow boarding, surfing and tramping (hiking) and involves multi-day trips. Associated course fees apply.

Sport in Education
Students in Years 9 and 10 may study English, Mathematics and Physical Education in a sports-based cross-curricular learning context.

Some resource rich subjects incur course related costs.
BYOD
Hillmorton has WiFi throughout the school. All courses and programmes have a digital aspect to them.
Students are asked to bring their own device (BYOD).
In Years 7 - 10 please bring a chromebook.
In Years 11 - 13 students may choose what type of device they would like to use (cell phones are not appropriate).
International Student Code of Conduct
International students are reminded they are required to follow the conditions covered in the International Student Code of Conduct while enrolled at Hillmorton High School.
