On Saturday 19 September one of our music students, Murphy McMillan, competed in the finals of the Y Factor talent quest run by the YMCA at Papa Hou Theatre.

Contestants had to pass the selection process by sending in a video audition and be aged between 13 and 21 years old. The top 20 items were selected from over 50 entries. The competition was split into 3 sections: Singing, Dancing and Variety. Murphy performed a challenging electric guitar solo, “Always With Me, Always With You” by Joe Satriani and was placed runner up in the Variety section of the competition receiving $500 prize money!

Competing in the Y Factor was an amazing experience. It was run very professionally. All competitors were allowed a stage run earlier in the day and were provided with professional photos and a video of their performance. The judges were very knowledgeable and encouraging and the prizes totalled over $6,000.

We are very proud of Murphy for taking advantage of this wonderful opportunity and performing so well.
