Covid-19 Protection Framework

HHS —

For all non-curriculum events

We trust you are all well as we head into celebrating the Christmas period. You will all be aware Aoteaora New Zealand has entered into the Covid-19 Protection Framework (Traffic Light System) and Christchurch is currently at Orange.

Your child's health and safety is of paramount importance. Following advice from Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education, we will be required to verify vaccine passes for all non-curriculum events.

Many of the venues we use for non-curriculum activities eg. swimming pools (swimming sports), local sports grounds (sport matches) require a vaccine passport for students aged 12 years, 3 months or over. Examples of non-curriculum activities requiring a vaccine passport:

  • Community use of swimming pools or other facilities
  • Out of hours music, art and cultural events
  • All sporting activities outside of school hours*
  • Prize givings involving wider community
  • Parent group meetings
  • School balls or leavers' dinners
  • Fundraising events
  • Productions

*Sports

Both School Sport NZ and School Sport Canterbury currently require proof vaccine for all young people aged 12 years, 3 months and over if they are to play inter-school sport. We will need to view the student’s vaccine passport before they can play. We intend to collect this proof during school-parent-student meetings at the start of the year on Monday 31 January and Tuesday 1 February. The database will be confidential to the Principal, her PA and the Director of Sports. Without vaccination proof, students will not be able to play inter-school sport.

We know that this is an uneasy and changing time. We will continue to communicate information regarding the Covid-19 Protection Framework with you as information comes to hand.

Please be assured that whilst this directive is forced upon us, we accept that there are many different views on vaccinating children and where possible we will endeavour to be inclusive of students who are unvaccinated to ensure that they are able to enjoy alternative events.
