Year 7 & 8 Korfball tournament success

Hillmorton —

On Monday 21 September, 30 teams competed at the Term 3 Canterbury Korfball Tournament.

Three teams from Hillmorton attended this tournament.  Two of the teams were competing in the A grade and one team competed in B grade.  In the A grade, we had the Red team and the Blue team competing in different pools. The Red team made it through to the quarter finals with two wins and two losses finishing third in their pool behind the eventual 1st and 2nd placed teams. They went on to lose their quarter final by 1 point and continued on to finish 5th in the A grade. A very good result against some very competitive teams.

The Blue team narrowly missed out on the quarter finals with one win, one draw and two losses. They played off for 9th-16th and managed to win the remainder of their games finishing 9th in the A grade.  They were very pleased with these results only losing two games throughout the tournament.  In the B grade we had the White team who played really well the whole way through pool play and didn't lose a game even beating the eventual winners of the B grade.  In the quarter final it came down to a penalty shoot out which they unfortunately lost by 1 point.  They continued winning after this finishing 5th in the B grade.  A fantastic result for this team only losing one game throughout the tournament.  The students had a great day competing and having fun in the sun.
