Hillmorton —

Kia ora Koutou, Talofa Lava, warm greetings to you all,

  • Dance NZ Made competition

  • Year 12 girls self-defence course

  • Year 13 Geography students attending the Scholarship Day and getting a taste of university life

  • EVolocity trip to University of Canterbury

  • Excellent teaching and learning is ongoing throughout each day here at school

  • Interschool sports is alive and well again

  • Students practising for Rockquest

Next week, on Tuesday and Wednesday, our Sports & Culture photos are to be taken, so please ensure your children are dressed in full school or sports uniform.

Aonga Ake

Our new Middle School construction continues and is currently on track for being ready for the 2021 school year.

School Roll

Our roll continues to grow with large numbers predicted for Year 9 next year. The Board of Trustees made the decision to take 35 out of zone students for Year 7 only. This will allow families who may be in the Year 9 - 13 zone to have a full Middle School experience from Years 7 - 10. Our predicted roll for 2021 sits at just over 1000. Fortunately we have six Board owned classrooms in addition to the Ministry of Education classrooms and so we will be able to cope with further growth for some years to come.

Report Evening

Thank you to all parents, caregivers and whānau who were able to attend the report evenings this week. If you were not able to attend please do not hesitate in asking for your child’s teachers to contact you.

Volunteers

We are always looking for volunteers to help at school with sporting and cultural groups in classrooms and as reader/writers for students with Special Assessment Conditions, we are very grateful for those people already volunteering, please let me know if you are interested to help (email admin@hillmorton.school.nz)

We all need to work together to ensure the very best outcomes for our young learners.

Ngā mihi
