HHS Student Blood Donors Save Lives

Kat Jordan-McGrath —

HHS students lend an arm to help others

Due to Covid 19 alert levels this year, the NZ Blood Service were not able to run our annual HHS Blood Drive on site at school this year.  Being such a good cause, a dedicated and kind group of HHS students did not want to let the NZ Blood Service down, so we managed to organise them to go to the NZ Blood Service site to give blood to save lives.

The NZ Blood Service is the SOLE provider of blood products to hospitals in NZ, and they need 3,500 donations EACH AND EVERY WEEK to meet hospital needs.  Currently less than 4% of us roll up our sleeves and donate.  If you are willing to lend an arm to help save lives, please complete the eligibility quiz at https://www.nzblood.co.nz/give-blood/donating/am-i-eligible and/or contact the NZ Blood Service directly on 0800 GIVE BLOOD to find out more.
