Outdoor Education - reflections on our recent 'local' sea kayak

Pam Hunt —

"The sea kayaking camp was a very new and exciting experience for me, kayaking in the open sea, being away from technology and just the environment of being around a supportive and encouraging whānau has definitely inspired me to continue with Outdoor Education." (Olivia Halaifonua, Year 11)

“The kayak trip was awesome. I loved the challenge of it all and then the reward of getting to Pigeon Bay. The new territory that we explored was awesome, going from somewhere familiar in Little Port Cooper to somewhere that I had never been before in Little Pigeon and Pigeon Bay.” (Taine Parfitt, Year 12)

“Exploring the heads from Little Port Cooper round to Pigeon Bay was incredible! Three days in a kayak meant you had to pack smart and enjoy the little things like snack breaks! Ka Rawe to Mahi team!” (Lochie Ellison, Year 12)

“Sea kayaking was fun and really cool to ride the waves with the kayaks. I have never kayaked that much before but found it really enjoyable even though it was tiring. Would definitely do it again.” (Dylan Knott, Year 12)
