Tekapo 2020

Pam Hunt —

With senior students having practice exams at school it was time for our non-NCEA international students to head to Tekapo.

Many of our international students who are here for a year or less are not entered for NCEA, so have the chance to explore New Zealand a little while their peers do their practice exams.

Ten students (Jakob, Konomi, Mei, Miku, Ngan, Rinka, Sho, Taisei, Yosei, Yuma) accompanied by Pam Hunt and Heidi Cayford, headed to Tekapo and Aoraki / Mt Cook for three days during the late August exam week.

Activities included tubing, ice-skating and soaking in hot pools at Tekapo Springs, eating delicious sashimi on the shores of Lake Pukaki, exploring some walks at the base of Aoraki / Mt Cook, checking out the stunning scenery from the top of Mt John, along with visiting the Tekapo hotspots of the 'church' and the 'dog', and generally enjoying the magnificent Mackenzie Country.

The students truly appreciated their chance to visit such a awesome part of Aotearoa New Zealand, and it's always a privilege to be able to share this with them.
