Hillmorton First XI Hockey

Made the semi-finals and had their best game of the season on Monday night in Rangiora

This season our HHS Hockey First XI have gone from strength to strength as the season has progressed. From seven games they have had 4 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses meaning they sat 4th on the points table. With great excitement the team played their semi-final against top ranked team Rangiora Gold on Monday night.

It was the best game of the season so far as Hillmorton started strong, dominating possession and territory for the first 20 mins. They held off Rangiora till the final minute of the first half before conceding a goal making the half time score 0-1.

Throughout the second half, Rangiora stretched the lead out one more to 2-0 and began to play with more confidence now that pressure of scoring goals had been relieved.

Hillmorton had a few breakaways and shots on goal and had success scoring a late goal with the help of a few junior players who were filling in for our seniors studying for exams.

The final score was Rangiora 3 - Hillmorton 1.

One game to go, hopefully, post lockdown our team will be in the 3rd/4th play offs against Riccarton High School.
