2021 NZRDA Rider of the Year

Covid delayed the announcement and the award of the prestigious title of New Zealand Rider of the Year 2021 by New Zealand Riding for the Disabled (NZRDA). Paris Gorlick was awarded a certificate, medal and trophy at a special ceremony at the Wigram Christchurch NZRDA base, on the 19th of July 2022.

Horse-riding improves the rider's balance, coordination, posture and builds confidence in having a balanced life. Paris has been riding for Christchurch RDA for 12 years and is usually paired with trusty steed Rocco, a 14.2 hands high chestnut gelding. Rocco is a placid and patient horse compared to Paddy who is the other horse Paris rides - in fact she calls Paddy naughty! Dressage is Paris’ favourite event and Rocco excels in making both of them look good. Her coachs, Pip Parker and Thea Parker. thinks Paris likes dressing up in her outfit and as you can see in the photo, everyone is smiling.

There are 52 NZRDA Centres across New Zealand which provide horse-riding for disabled people. Therefore it is a huge honour for Paris, her supporters and her school that she gained the TOP award for NZRDA 2021.
