Welcome - Nau mai haere mai

Year 5 Kaiako —

Kia ora e te whānau,

Welcome back to Term 2 and another busy and exciting term! We trust you had a restful break.

Our school day begins at 8.50am and we request your tamariki arrive at school between 8.30am-8.40am, so they can get themselves organised and resourced for their learning day. Encourage your child to listen to the Pānui o te rā (Daily News) to hear about sports trials and leadership opportunities.

Due to winter weather, please investigate Hobby Care if you need to drop your tamariki off earlier than 8.30am.

On Friday 14 June, Week 7, your child will bring home their Mid Year Report, please read and discuss the report with your child before meeting with teachers for Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences which will be held in Week 8 on Wednesday 19 June and Thursday 20 June. Look out in the school newsletters for the booking information.

Namaste, My name is Priya Jayapuram, I’m originally from India. I have 2 beautiful children, Jordan (23yrs) and Keisha(20yrs). I live with my husband Avinash.

My 15 years of experience as a teacher have shaped a teaching
philosophy that guides how I help my students succeed in the
classroom and beyond.

Ako and tukana teina is the base of my personal teaching
philosophy. I believe every child is unique and must have a
stimulating educational environment where they can grow
physically, mentally, emotionally and socially. As a Primary
Kaiako, I enjoy a reflective disposition and maintain a flexibility
in my teaching, which enables me to be receptive to children,
providing them with the experiences they need to develop and
grow as confident and competent learners. I endeavour to
facilitate our tamariki with learning opportunities that can help
them reach their full potential. In my spare times I love to go on
hikes, watch movies and love cooking. I’m looking forward to
Term 2 of the Year 5 learning space; getting to know you and your child.

We hope your tamariki are looking forward to the opportunities being offered this term.

Remember that we have an open door policy so please do email us if you have any questions or queries.

Ngā mihi,

David, Tehran, Priya
