Year 7 and 8 STEAM Education
Our goal is to extend our Year 7 and 8 students further with Concept Based Inquiry and both Science and Technology learning areas of the curriculum.
We will do this by authentically integrating STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) education into our every day learning experiences.
In the last block of each day (Monday to Friday) the students will participate in STEAM afternoons. These afternoons include a range of hands-on STEAM learning experiences and explicit teaching, such as woodwork, 2D and 3D artistic, digital and technological design, science lessons, etc.
Students attend Garden to Table (Food Technology), Visual Art and Performing Arts throughout the term, separately to STEAM Afternoons, but we endeavour to integrate these curriculum areas when relevant into our STEAM programme.
To meet the safety policies and to participate in technology classes, students need to wear closed-in shoes. Long hair that sits on or below the collar must be tied back and long fringes must also be clipped or held back from the eyes with a hair tie, clip or headband.
