Principal's Message

Anne Leitch —

Dear Parents and Whānau,

The information I received today from the Ministry of Education supports our Prime Minister's statement in principle, for moving into Level 3 next Wednesday 22 September. Working under the Public Health Order the Property Manager and cleaners have already started to prepare the school for opening for a small number of students at Level 3. This will be confirmed by the Prime Minister on Monday 21 September.

The October school holidays have not been moved by the government and the school term will finish on Friday 1 October.

Term 4 will begin on Monday 18 October, and we are hoping to be in Level 2 by that time. We acknowledge some parents may be nervous about their children returning to physical school, but can promise you that all health guidelines will be adhered to carefully. Please prepare and plan for your children to return to school when Auckland moves into Level 2, as it will be critical they have full attendance for the short time we will have for the remainder of the  2021 school year.

The board has been supportive of encouraging and supporting staff to be vaccinated. Whether teachers are vaccinated, or not is private information.

We ask that you do respond to any requests from the school around your child attending Hobsonville School next year, attending school in Level 3, or attending the Year 7/8 Camp in Term 4. It is important information and we need parents to respond to an information request please to enable us to plan.

Level 4 has been challenging for everyone but we have had amazing co-operation from our families with the online learning. I have seen so much learning and a lot of fun!! Your children will be very keen to return to school!!

Ngā mihi

Anne Leitch
