Powhiri for Rotary Visitors

Linda McKenzie - Year 1 Learning Leader —

This afternoon Hobsonville School hosted the Rotary International President, Gordon McInally, at our school. He was accompanied by his wife Heather and other Rotary dignitaries.

President Gordon was welcomed with a powhiri in the auditorium. From the Kaikaranga to the Kapa Haka group who showcased some beautiful waiatas, this was a wonderful occasion for our guests.

Following some kai, which was shared with teachers, the party was part of a presentation 'Think and Be Me' to the Year 4 students. This programme equips tamariki with essential skills for longlife resilience. Many thanks to Mrs Leitch, Mrs Pocklington-Foster and Mr Brake for organising this special event.

I know our guests left Hobsonville School feeling very positive about how our school and Rotary values of kindness and respect to all align with each other. This experience will further strengthen our connections with Rotary.
