Deputy Principal's Message
Aim for the highest cloud so that if you miss it, you will hit a lofty mountain. Whāita te iti kahurangi ki te tūohu koe me he maunga teitei.
Thank you to all the parents and whānau who attended the Y4-8 learning conferences this week. It was such a valuable experience to dedicate time to discuss your child’s learning journey for the first half of the year, and to partner with the teachers to set goals for your child to strive for the ‘highest cloud’, to help them be the best they can be for their End of the Year Report.
As a family, it is always valuable to sit down and look at the Mid Year Report together, to see where your child is currently sitting on the ‘key competencies’ and ‘attitude and effort’ scale - usually when these increase, so will the academics.
Next week, we all begin to celebrate Matariki, and experience how Māori both celebrated the Māori New Year, and also prepared for the upcoming winter. This week, some of the classes have already begun making delicious seasonal vegetable soup and fry-bread, to enjoy a hearty and wholesome meal with their classmates. All classes will get this opportunity as Matariki runs up to the end of this term.
Enjoy these photos of two of our Y7/8 classes (H25 and H28) making soup and fry-bread yesterday. The intermediate students loved the soup so much, they asked if we could add the soup recipe to this photo gallery.
