Year 7 & 8 Quick Rip Rugby - Tournament 1
Hobsonville sent a girls team and boys team to the first of two Quick Rip Rugby days held at Marist North Harbour Rugby Club.
It was a great day of learning for both students and teachers who attended. Both teams showed a lot of resilience and some awesome skills in what is an unfamiliar game to a high percentage of the students who played on the day.
Both teams played their hearts out and showed great teamwork and showed a lot of “me to we” which was great to see. There were a ton of awesome skills shown by the students and the effort to be the best they can be was evident.
Both teams experienced the highs of winning games, and the lows of losing. They have no doubt come out of it ready to take the lessons learned, and apply them to the next Quick Rip day in a few weeks' time.
It was a great day, the students enjoyed themselves and there were quite a few very sore and very tired bodies by the end of it, which was a direct result of the effort and commitment they showed throughout the day.
The Quick Rip tournament was quite an experience. Beside the fact that I had a great time, I also learned a few things, like how to manage myself when I didn’t agree with the refs, and how to instruct my teammates in a more constructive and productive way. As a team, we learned how to support each other on both attack and defence, and to use our space more effectively. Our effort to be there in support improved throughout the day as well. I had my ups and downs during the day but it was amazing to be part of the team and to support the boys as well. Janelle
We learnt how to work more effectively as a team and improved how we communicate with each other. We never dropped our heads when things weren’t going our way and kept trying our best. It was a good day, we enjoyed the experience and we are looking forward to the next one. Lachy
