Waste Free Lunches

Samantha Kitt —

Hobsonville School is a waste free school and we ask that students come to school with waste free lunches to reduce waste within the school environment.

A waste free lunch means no plastic wrap, no foil, no zip lock bags and no packages. Your child can still eat foods that come in packages but please take the food out of their wrappers and packages before putting them in your child’s lunchbox.

Hobsonville School only has worm farm waste bins. The waste is placed into the worm farm bins and we use the worm farm castings to help support the growth of our vegetable gardens and fruit trees in our school garden.

We ask that any left over foods like sandwiches and citrus fruits be taken back home.

All children at Hobsonville School have had the opportunity to make their own wax wrap to use in their lunchboxes. We hope to see these more in lunchboxes during break times.
