Northwest Athletics Competition

Hobsonville School Office —

On Tuesday this week, thirteen Hobsonville School students competed at the Northwest Athletics competition.

It was a great day and every one of our students competed to the best of their ability. A couple of highlights were Lincoln B-Y. winning the Year 7 1500m race by quite a large margin. He ran a near perfect race, and didn't panic when a lot of the other boys took off from the start line at full speed to try and get in front. He paced himself and reeled them back in and then took off. Once he had the lead, he never looked like giving it up.

Kooper A. made the final of the Year 8 boys 100m and 200m sprints. He finished 2nd in the 200m final against some very fast competition.

Kevin W. had a close battle in the Year 8 boys high jump and finished 2nd.

Tristen S. finished 2nd in the Year 8 boys shot put in what was another very competitive field of strong athletes.

Lincoln, Kevin, Kooper and Tristen have all qualified for Auckland Champs next Thursday! We wish them all the best as they move on to what will be a bigger and more competitive range of athletes to compete against!

Congratulations to the girls on their perseverance and resilience in their first NW athletics event. They were competing against 18 other schools. Each of the girls ran extremely well and to the best of their ability. The growth throughout the day was noticeable. This experience will be a valuable one which they can take into Year 8.

Every single one of our students who competed at Northwest Athletics should be proud of their efforts. They all gave their best effort and supported each other throughout the day.
