Epilepsy NZ Let's Go Purple Day 2025 Volunteers Needed

Epilepsy New Zealand are looking for volunteers to help with fundraising for Purple Day on Wednesday 26 March 2025.

As you may know, Purple Day - a dedicated day to raising awareness and funds for epilepsy is on Wednesday 26 March 2025.

Purple Day is a fantastic opportunity for us to make a real impact and be visible in our local communities.

As a proud supporter of Epilepsy New Zealand, I'm reaching out to invite you to join us as a volunteer to help make Purple Day 2025 the most successful yet. A little of your time can make a big difference!

Types of volunteer roles:

  • Contacting Schools: We've been reaching out to schools nationwide, inviting them to join the fun by encouraging tamariki to wear purple, learn about diversity and inclusion, and take part in fundraising activities. We're seeking volunteers to follow up with school offices to confirm they've received our call to action and, if not, to help connect with the appropriate staff member.

  • Running BBQs at Bunnings: We've co-ordinated with Bunnings stores across the country to host BBQ fundraisers in March 2025. Each BBQ requires at least 3 (three) volunteers: one to cook sausages and onions, one to assemble the food, and another to handle payments. The BBQs run from 10 am to 4 pm, and shifts can be arranged if needed.

  • Collection points: We aim to have a visible presence in shopping malls and other prominent locations across the country on Purple Day or the weekend before or after. This involves setting up a small table with a tablecloth, providing resources for people to take, and collecting donations (hopefully using a smart online donation system).
