Staff Only Days (SOD)

Brad Hill - Deputy PrincipalFebruary 8, 2024

During January this year our staff participated in a team building day and professional development on trauma informed practice.

On Thursday 25 January, we started our Hobsonville School SOD focusing on how to support Pasifika students.

Afterwards, we had a very fun collaborative session, which orchestrated staff to work with other staff from across the school. This included walking staff members who are blindfolded, through challenging pathways around our school environment. Lastly, staff across Waka, Maunga, Kainga and Awa houses had to collaborate in their house group to move a bucket of water using only ropes.

Four days later, on Tuesday 30 January, Hobsonville staff joined 10 other local primary schools and Hobsonville Point Secondary School for a SOD at Hobsonville Point Primary School. The focus of the day was on trauma-informed practice, empowering us with a deeper understanding of what some children are navigating in their world outside of school, and also several key strategies on how we can tailor the school day to support their learning (academic and social).
