What an amazing turnout at the Christmas Picnic last evening!! Thank you to those who were able to attend. It is really important your children attend these performances, as it strengthens their connection to their peers and the school, as they can feel uncomfortable when they have not participated. Fantastic to see nearly all of the Year 7 & 8 students dancing together and looking very happy!! We talk often about Hobsonville School being their kāinga, and school events strengthen their connections to places which are safe. We hope you liked the change in venue as we think it worked well.
A huge thank you to the Whānau & Friends for preparing and selling food. Overall it was a very special evening.
A HUGE thank you to Mrs Eliza Kell who has worked tirelessly on the Whānau & Friends during the 12 years her children have attended the school. Eliza's contribution to the life of the school through leading the organisation of fundraising events, especially during her tenure as Chairperson has been selfless, relentless and always executed with grace, patience, humour and boundless energy. We recognised this mahi at the Picnic Evening.
I would again like to acknowledge our retiring board, Presiding Member - Katy Bexley. Katy has served on the board firstly as a board member and in latter years as the Presiding Member. We are extremely appreciative of the time, expertise and energy Katy so willingly contributed to the life of the school in this way. We acknowledged Katy's contribution at the last board meeting of 2024.
2024 has been a busy but very rewarding and successful year for Hobsonville School. The school has been working with ERO (Education Review Office) within all schools' 3 year cycle of review, and another profile report will be available early in 2025. It is extremely rewarding to have the school positioned in "excelling" in many criteria.
Hobsonville School monitors student achievement data very closely throughout the year to ensure teachers know and understand exactly how the students are achieving and what their next learning needs to be. This information is regularly shared with the students and also with you when they receive the reports. You will have received your child's report through the ETAP App and an email to alert you. Please ensure you discuss this report with your child and use it to identify where you can support them over the term break. Congratulate them please!!
Achievement data is also collated and shared with the Board of Trustees mid and end of year. This information forms the basis for the following year's Annual Implementation Plan and sits under the goals in the Strategic Plan 2024-25.

Our staff wish you and your whanau all the best for the summer holidays and the festive season .
