Tumuaki/Principal's Message

Anne Leitch - Tumuaki/PrincipalMarch 21, 2024

Dear Parents and Whānau,

This is the last newsletter before we break for the Easter holidays. We hope you and your family can have some relaxed family time especially as autumn is here, and winter is just around the corner.

Please note: the Tuesday of Easter is a statutory school holiday and all New Zealand schools are closed.

The Easter break is an opportune time for the children to catch up on some sleep and rest as Term 1 has been busy.

Many of you attended John Parsons' talk on Cyber Safety on Tuesday evening. Mr Hill has shared some important points from the day John spent at Hobsonville School. I hope you find the articles as interesting and informative as we did. It was gratifying to hear him speak about the importance of sleep and its effects on the developing young person's brain through lack of sleep.

One very important noticing from this reading is that children and young adolescents require 12 hours sleep in each 24 hour period. Many of our children tell us they are going to bed late, which of course will not help them with their ability to be able to focus on their learning and manage their emotions.

Ngā mihi

Anne Leitch
