Home Learning / Ako ki te kainga

Home learning is a continuation of the learning at school, and will often involve completing set tasks.

Students are generally given more than one night to finish the expected work, and should not take more than one hour per night as we recognise that many children and their families are busy with other commitments during the week.

We also expect each student to read at home on a regular basis. Our school library allows students to issue two books at a time: one can remain at school for independent reading and the other can be used for home reading.

We will connect parents to our Seesaw platform, so that you can see what we are learning about, and the tasks your children are working on. There are often assignments posted with a due date that students can be working on at home.

Opportunities / Whai wāhitanga

This term there are numerous opportunities available for your child to participate in.

We encourage all our students to involve themselves in school activities, such as sports teams or leaders, Kapa Haka, musical groups, robotics etc. These opportunities will be advertised daily in Pānui o te rā: News of the Day.

Norwest sports tournaments this term include tag, cricket, softball, swimming, orienteering, and tennis. It is vital that we have parental help with supervision and transport for all Norwest events.
