AIMs Games Pre Tournament Game

The AIMS Rippa Rugby team and wider training squad members took part in a pre-AIMS tournament last Wednesday.

With the North-West Auckland schools such as Orewa and Mahurangi competing, this was a timely hit-out against other AIMS teams just weeks before we head to Tauranga.

In sunny conditions in Warkworth, the team flew out of the blocks, with a rousing win over the Waitoki team in Round One. A tougher challenge loomed in Round Two, with the team pushing rival school Mahurangi College - who had convincingly beaten us just weeks earlier - to a narrow 3-2 loss.

Wins against Orewa, Wellsford and a second victory over Waitoki followed. The team ran out of steam in the final, losing to Mahurangi. However, we are delighted with a strong second place finish, especially with several wider training squad members stepping up in the absence of some key players.

Many thanks to Assistant Coach Pete, and to our Manager Mr Hill, for contributing to a successful day of Rippa, and well done to all of our players who took part.
