He Rangatira

Haeata —

Celebrating Leadership across the school!

This term’s whole school assembly was based upon Leadership: He Rangatira. We were so lucky to be entertained by Kimora and his stunning piani pieces. E te manu tīoriori,  kei te mihi.

This term we celebrated a range of leaders at our school from years 1-13. These ākonga demonstrate confidence and manaak(tū māia) and show how they can weave people together. Student leadership is an essential component of any school community, and I am thrilled about the potential it holds for creating positive change and growth at Haeata.

By working together with our ākonga students we can make a real impact on our school environment. These ākongfa motivate their peers, embodying the values of  Haeata. Thank you for your hard work and dedication – you are truly making a difference in our kura and we are looking forward to our future.

Savannah Kara our māreikura - Head girl received a special award this term as she  personifies being  a leader everyday. She is  absolutely incredible! Savannah  possesses a remarkable combination of passion, vision, and drive that makes it impossible not to be inspired by their presence.

Savannah received the Southern Academies Top Advanced Leader  for 2024. A 14 day leadership course was held at Burnham Military Camp and Whenuapai, Attended by 56 of the top leaders of all Academies of Aotearoa. She has obtained her Bronze Duke Of Edinburgh award from the Mayor of Christchurch.

From leading discussions in the classroom to spearheading service projects in the community, Savannah truly embodies what it means to make a positive impact on those around them. Her  energy is contagious and her commitment is  unwavering. I  have no doubt that she will continue to achieve great things in all of her endeavours.
