Haeata Services Program 2020

Ra Waaka —

At the end of 2019 The Services Program for Haeata 2019 looked uncertain. We were unsure what 2020 would bring.

I gave a brief to Tuakana explaining what the Services program is to our seniors, on Friday and then crossed my fingers.

However, Monday the 10th and wow! I couldn’t be happier to see 22 young people standing outside our room.

I thought that they were another class that was lost, but no they were there to join the Haeata Services Program for 2020.

I jumped up ready to give another brief and start the first lessons, Introductions, Biographies and sign on sheet.

Kia Ora I said, I am Staff Waaka and welcome to the program, you have 3 days to make your decision to stay on the program.

And to my surprise they returned, ready to go hard, so off we went doing drill, physical fitness, mental studies, and working on our Services booklet.

In the last 2 weeks we have made contracts and set our non- negotiables, helped with the school rubbish policy, and leaderless tasks.

The Haeata Services Program leaves for Burnham Military camp 16th March 2020 for 12 days.

There will be a big day soon when our uniform is signed for and handed out to our ākonga, that will mark a great day, and the MANA of the Services ākonga in the program will grow.
