ConnectED update

Irihāpeti Mahuika —

Since late 2018 Haeata has been promoting the ConnectED project, to help families get access to the internet. This project is supported by the Ministry of Education, along with several others around the country. To make sure the project is working as planned and achieving its goals, the Ministry is supporting an ‘evaluation’ of ConnectED at Haeata

Kara Scally-Irvine will be working with us on behalf of
the Ministry of Education to complete this during Term 1. You may see her around with the ConnectED whānau engagement team.

The evaluation is important for us to know if we’re doing things right, and if not, to find out what we need to change to make ConnectED a success. What we learn here will also be useful for other schools to know, who might be considering the same project.

If you have signed up to ConnectED already, we really encourage you to participate in the evaluation work so we can get the best picture of progress so far.

About Kara: Kara has recently arrived home to Christchurch after leaving Aranui High School for Otago University in the 90s. Her background is as a researcher and evaluator, with experience working on projects in education, sports and recreation, science and innovation, and community development. She has also worked on several community development projects in Asia and the Pacific. She has a husband, two kids, and a dog, and is excited to be back on the Mainland and closer to family, friends, the mountains, and the sea.
