Farewelling Rodney TeWheu Flavell
Kia Ora Whānau,
Tomorrow, Thursday 29th October our dear friend, colleague and whānau member Rodney TeWheu Flavell will be farewelled at our kura/school on the way to his journey home.
At 9:00am Rodney will come through our kura/school in the hearse. He will be driven in via Breezes Road and come past the Waharoa. The hearse will stop to allow us to mihi to him, and then drive out onto Shortland Street.
We will need all of your support to help make this work. We will be closing off the Breezes Road entrance from 8:45 until 9:30am. Please park and walk in, or drop off via our Shortland Street entrance. Our Neighbourhood Policing Team will be supporting on Breezes Road during this time.
Representatives from Shirley Boys High School and the New Zealand Army will also be present to mihi to Rodney and his whānau at this time. We invite all of our community to be part of farewelling Rodney also.
Managing the crowd will be our biggest challenge. Haeata Kaimahi/Staff will support our young people with where to be and how to stay safe. Ra Waaka and the Services team will be coordinating crowd control and support.
All kaimahi, ākonga and whānau have a choice about whether they would like to attend or not. Ākonga who do not attend, will be supervised by Haeata staff and relief teachers within the hapori. If this is something you would prefer your tamaiti/child not to be a part of, please let your Puna Ako teacher know, or contact Rebecca Wilson, Deputy Principal 022 646 6479, or a member of the Hauora Team.
If we do not hear from you, we will assume that it is ok for your tamaiti/child to be in attendance.
