Haeata seniors attend NZDF Advanced Leaders course

Ra Waaka —

During the week of August 2, Justice Pryor and Kristina Varbai attended the New Zealand Defence Force Advanced Leaders course.

The Advanced Leaders course is to build upon the Basic Leaders course which was held early term 2 where Miss Harmony Brett won the Leadership award.

Early on a brisk Monday Morning we set off to Burnham hoping to catch and join the Military convoy heading to Cromwell, once we had joined the convoy near Geraldine the day got better with the weather clearing and the sun making an appearance, we headed to Cromwell nearly running out of petrol near Tarras, luckily we filled the vehicles and were able to carry onto Cromwell, one of the staff members mentioned that we were heading to the Falcons nest which we thought was a joke, but with puzzled looks we followed, the Accommodation was awesome and classes began.

Tuesday Morning we headed to Clyde to start the activity, the central Otago Rail Trail, 30 kms later we were in Omakau for a rest from pushing pedals, all in all the tasks and activities were performed well by all that attended, by Thursday however the award didn’t go our way with Mawhera winning the Advanced Leaders award.

A great week of learning with views to boot. Well done Justice and Kristina for doing a good job.
