A snippet of what happens in the music space at Haeata - Rakheal produces his own tracks
Rakheal makes his own music in the music studios that Haeata offers. Rakheal uses his passion for music and producing to learn through a combination of independent learning and some help from kaiako Antonio Toetoe.
Rakheal gains composition and literacy credits for his songwriting. "I put lyrics to it and send it to Sue to mark it."
“It’s one of the many projects I’ve been working on” says Rakheal who has also been working on several other projects that interest him to gain NCEA credits. He is also learning about Māori musical instruments with Whaea Melody. Rakheal and his peers gain NCEA credits in this kaupapa.
When asked where he gets his inspiration from; “Inspiration from old school artists, and certain syllable hits on the beat… and english techniques like metaphors.”
“[Haeata’s] not strict, you choose what you wanna do,” which allows many students like Rakheal to let their passion guide their learning.
We're looking forward to seeing your EP on Spotify, Rakheal!
