Sports at Haeata - We are Haeata!!
It's been a busy term back for Haeata students for lots of sports including basketball, rugby and cross country.
Every week Haeata students go out and represent the school with pride, showing great sportsmanship, and more often than not a win for our ākonga. Here's a snippet of some great achievements by our ākonga:
Our senior basketball girls kick started the school basketball comp off against St Andrews on Friday May 10th. They played amazing but went down 28-32. Come and watch them play every Friday night!
Our year 7/8 rugby league team had their first round robin match on Tuesday May 14th. Our team was very depleted but we went with 10 players and they played their hearts out. Player of the day was the birthday boy, Nature who ran all day and tackled everything running at and away from him. Final score Haeata 56, St Thomas 28. They play every Tuesday, block 3.
Wednesday May 15th was the first game of the school season for Haeata girls rugby team. They came away with a 58-35 win against Linwood. Both teams played their hearts out this afternoon, and you can watch them every Wednesday afternoon.
On Thursday May 16th our year 5/6 basketball team had their first game at Cowles Stadium. They dominated and came away with a win 16-5 v South Brighton. We have some talented young people! They play every Thursday night
An outstanding job by our Teina ākonga, Calais , Paki, Oliver, Irihapiti, Mayden-Rose, at Zone Cross Country on Tuesday May 21st Te Kaia, Thanks to kaiako Carla for supporting them around the track.
