Acting Manukura Term 2

Hākui Raewyn Himona —

Hākui Raewyn Himona Term 1 and 2 2025

Tēna koutou e ngā whānau o Haeata,

This  past week Whaea Peggy Burrows our Manukura  starts her sabbatical leave for 10 weeks. She will visit us I’m sure over the next term.

I have been a kaiako/teacher/educator for the past 32 years teaching in a range of schools from years 1-13, in Māori and English mediums and at University level.

I hail from the eye of the fish,Te Karu o te Ika - Wairarapa. I stand with humility and pride as a descendant of Rangitane ki Wairarapa, Ngāti Kahungungu ki Wairarapa and Ngāi Tahu on my father’s side. I have strength from my mothers whakapapa of Te Ati Awa and Ngāti Raukawa.

I believe education is the ‘key’ to the world – and ensuring that there are multiple pathways for all of our ākonga at Haeata is paramount.

It is a privilege to work alongside the ākonga, whānau and educators at Haeata Community Campus  to ensure equitable opportunities for all by advocating for them, their whānau and hāpori.

Kia ngātahi te hūkere o te hoe, e kore ai te waka e tītoki – Let us paddle in unison so our waka does not capsize – it reaches the horizon. Ki te hoe! Ko Te Aranui ki Ao. Noū te kō! Carving pathways to the world.

Subsequently, I served as a Resource Teacher of Learning and Behaviour for 12 years. My career reflects a deep commitment to the educational success of Māori and Pasifika learners. I am honoured to join the Haeata Community College for a  term. It is an honour to work alongside the akonga, whānau,  educators, and whānau whānui of Haeata.
