Community (AED) Defibrillator

Brydee Palmer —

If you’ve entered Te Tai o Mahaanui recently through the southern entrance, you may have noticed our brand new Community (AED) Defibrillator. This is a life saving device which is accessible at all times for our community. Providing 24/7 AED access in public places increases the rate of survival for people who have heart-related emergencies.

The community AED is installed in a secured cabinet with secured access. The AED is registered with 111 so they can give the caller the directions to locate the AED and also the code to access the locked AED cabinet.

Haeata Community Campus facilities are currently used seven days a week by people from all areas of our community. We’d like to thank Canterbury Registered Master Builders for the donation of the AED and Leigh Construction, Kings Electrical and New Zealand Red Cross for their support with installation.

The Community Defibrillator is now listed on the ‘AED Locations’ website and app which identifies AED’s nearby to users and the hours they are available.

We’d like to invite members of our community along to a free AED training session. This will be held at Haeata Community Campus for one hour on Wednesday 8th August at 11am.
