Kōmanawa
Update for May 2023
Term 2 sees the beginning of our haerenga for Kōmanawa akonga as we start to explore Te Wao nui ā Tane through Rongomatane ratou ko Haumiatiketike, Tane Mahuta, starting with Hakui Laura and a visit to Willowbank with our whānau and akonga from Riroriro.
This was the first time for a lot of our tamariki to see and engage with all the different wildlife and kararehe that they have there. The tamariki all enjoyed being able to to feed and touch the different animals and even wanted to take some home. We learnt about kararehe, we have never seen or heard of before like; Zebu - kau mai i Awherika, Chameleon Iguana - ano he Tuatara, Capybara - he Kiore nui, to name a few. Fun was had by all, and we returned to school with some very tired tamariki.
He mihi nui ki nga whānau i tae mai ki te awhina. See dates below for our other upcoming haerenga.
He Aha Tāu Mahi?
Today in Tōrea we experimented with skittles and different liquids to see what kind of reaction they would have with the lollies.
Whakapae/Hypothesis
We think the water will melt the lollies and make them colour the water like a rainbow.
