New BoT Chair Person - Sam Uta'i

Monique Lee —

Existing BoT member steps up to role of Chairperson

We welcome Sam Uta'i in to the role of chairperson for the Haeata Board of Trustees. With three mokopuna already in Haeata she has a real vested interest in the school,  with two in Teina and one in Tuakana; "My moko in Teina is loving it. (I also have) another one in Tuakana...he's always been a really good sports player and his leadership qualities have really come out here". Sam currently works at Ara's Next Step Centre for Women, and has previous experience on other Boards.

Current members of the Haeata BoT include three parents, and a mix of local community, education professionals and invested parties, "it's a really good mix," says Sam. "It was a natural progression for Sam and having her own mokopuna in Haeata she has a real vested interest," Andy Kai Fong.

Sam will be chairing the upcoming board elections later in the year. We thank Cheryl Doig for her ongoing services in the BoT and as her role as chair person.
