Board Talk

Cheryl Doig - Board Chairperson —

The start of a regular update from our Establishment Board of Trustees

At Monday's night's board meeting we welcomed Trisha Harrison-Hunt to the Establishment Board (EBoT) Trisha replaces Haneta, who stepped down at the end of last month. Trisha will stay on the EBoT until a school board is elected. This is likely to happen at the beginning of 2018, but the conversations for moving to a local board will start soon. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the conversation, to find out more about board structures and to think about how you might like to contribute. In each newsletter I plan to give you an update about Board matters. We treat our roles seriously and are committed to the success of our kura. This term the school's focuses are on policies and practices; and on assessment and reporting systems. Beginning a new school is a big job and there is much to be done. The team has created some amazing learning in a short time, but we acknowledge there is more to be done and that is our commitment. In the next newsletter I will update you about the timeline and process for board elections and also about some opportunities to meet the board. Information about our board members will be loaded onto our website in the next week and we will let you know through our Facebook page when they are up. I will be in the school on Friday 9 June, at the beginning of day, in the cafeteria area. Please introduce yourself! In order for this school to thrive we need to be working together and that is what I want to focus on.
