Haeata Junior School Yr 1 - 8 Working Online Friday 17 June 2022

Haeata —

Staffing shortage due to continued illness

Kia ora e te whānau,

Sadly this week we continue to have increased numbers of staff absences due to COVID and other illnesses in the junior school, years 1-8. This is making staffing the junior school very challenging due to ongoing relief teacher shortages Christchurch wide.

To try and break the spread of sickness, reduce the pressure on staffing, and provide kaiako/teachers with their non contacts/release time for planning, we have made the decision to move to learning from home this Friday 17th June for the primary school only, this includes Kōmanawa and Hikuawa Hapori.

We return to school as usual on Monday 20 June. Friday is classed as a ‘learning from home day’. Kaiako will ensure that our online learning platforms have learning available and if you would like some hard copy learning sent home please let your kaiako/teacher know. There will be no face-to-face teaching or Rawhiti Sport on Friday.Should it be impossible for you to have your tamariki/child at home on Friday, please contact Whaea Peggy via the School Office.

We are very aware of the pressure this may place but at the moment we are trying hard to remain open for most of the week.
We want to thank our whānau for your ongoing support at this time.
