It has certainly been an interesting few weeks and Covid has certainly impacted on Hoon Hay Te Kura KÅaka. I know myself how it feels to have Covid, so my thoughts are with all of our families isolating and I wish everyone a speedy recovery. ð
As we ride the Covid wave, it is business as usual inside the classrooms albeit with lower numbers, as we ensure school is a safe and happy place for our tamariki. The children are still taking part in all the activities that they usually would. You will have seen and heard about athletics, art, kapa haka, choir and the trials for winter sport are starting up. It is all go!
I would like to acknowledge the fabulous staff who have happily jumped in and helped out when other staff have been away. They are wonderful people. I would like to acknowledge Di Stayt and Emma Worsfold who have stepped up in my absence. It has made my recovery so much easier knowing that everyone is in safe hands. ð Another thanks to our office staff - Jacqui for her awesome communications and to Wendy for keeping the office running with a smile, kindness and good humour. Team work makes the dream work!
You will have heard about the changes to the Covid Restrictions announced by the Prime Minister earlier in the week. At this stage we intend to keep all of our current school restrictions in place until the end of the term e.g.; separated play areas and gathering sizes. We feel that we have not reached the peak yet and want to continue doing what we can to halt the spread. Hopefully we can lessen some restrictions and get back to some form of normal in term 2 - there is only just under 3 weeks until Easter and the start of the school holidays.ð°
I will see you all on Monday, and I am so looking forward to it! ð€
Have a super weekend,
Lee
