Kia ora whānau,

The term has started with a bang as we celebrated Book Week and celebrated the enjoyment of reading. The staff visited different classrooms each day to read to children and this is a much loved time for the tamariki as they are read to by some of their ex teachers, and meet new staff. A change of face is great fun!

The book swap was a treat, reading with buddy classes is always a highlight and the week was capped off by the book character parade this morning! Thanks to whānau who lined the streets and drove by tooting and hooting. The tamariki just love that sort of unexpected hilarity. Big thanks to Oli and Zachā€™s mum, Geena Fife, from Theme Productions, who supplied the book week props in the hall. They have been well used and the photos look fabulous! ā¤

Next week we move into our celebration of Matariki. We will have a Wānanga where tamariki move around different classrooms taking part in Matariki themed activities, the Kapa Haka group will perform, there is the Matariki breakfast on Thursday (more info later on in the newsletter) and the week ends with our Mihi Whakatau on Friday - so it is all go around here.......then, we move into production preparation!!!

We are thrilled to welcome Katie Molinyawe, who is teaching in Kāmata 1 and Teacher Aides, Nicole Carter and Betsy Ah Mu. We know you will love working here.

We are so proud of the New Zealand Football Ferns and what a win against Norway! The last 9 minutes was a very stressful watch. We will be sharing photos of our tamariki who have attended games and training sessions. If this is you, send them in! The team are fabulous role models to our girls who are passionate football players. Go the Football Ferns! āš½

Have a happy and restful weekend - itā€™s been a big week!
