The Port Hills Karate club will be starting classes for Term 1 2024 on Monday the 5th of February. We’re a small, family-friendly karate club located at the St Martins Anglican Church gym on Lincoln Road where we foster and encourage students to learn and practise karate techniques with an emphasis on good form, posture and biomechanics in a safe and respectful environment.Karate is a Japanese martial art that involves strikes, blocks and kicks in a series of pre-arranged forms that are also used for sparring. It's a great way to increase self-confidence, improve agility and flexibility, and learn and practise a challenging sport for self defence and for competition style karate. We run two classes per week - one on Monday afternoons at 4:30 through to 5:30 aimed primarily at those starting out with Karate, and one on Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Parents are able to train for free in the Monday afternoon classes and there is a 15% discount if two or more family members join up. More information can be found at: http://www.porthillskarate.nz/, or by contacting Tyrone at porthillskarate@gmail.com.
