From Lee McArthur - Principal 😀
Please make sure you read information on the Chocolate Fundraiser below.... 😋
Kia ora whānau,
Welcome back to term 3. It is a delight to visit the rooms and hear about the lovely adventures you have been on. Thank you for having the tamariki rested and ready for the term. Nice to see all the holiday haircuts on display:) The tamariki are settled and happy to be back at school.
We have received notification from the Ministry of Education that they are reviewing our school zone. This is a process that is led by the MOE. In short, the process is as follows
1. We receive a draft zone from the MOE.
2. Everyone in our community has the right to feedback to the MOE
3. The MOE reviews this feedback, makes a decision on our final zone and then informs us.
We expect this process to begin by the end of August. For a more detailed look at the process click on this link
Whittaker's Chocolate Fundraiser - Coming home Monday!
With our support, the PTA has decided to go ahead with the selling of Whittaker's Chocolate. 97% of whānau were keen to get on board with this fundraiser, so thank you:) This is a one-off chocolate fundraiser. We hope to raise between $6k - $10k to help modernise all the playgrounds in the school.
We are hoping this will be a winner for family, friends and workmates who like a little treat. We strongly advise against children going to random houses, door to door selling.
- For those that returned the survey and have indicated they are keen to sell, you will receive one box to sell. The box will be named. These will be issued to your eldest child and will come home on Monday. The price of the box $72 will initially go on your school account and this will be deducted from your account when the selling money is returned to school. You can pay via the school shop (easier for us) or return the money via cash. More boxes are available.
- If you have already indicated that you support the fundraiser but don’t want to sell the chocolate preferring to make a $25 donation - this will be added to your school account.
- For those that indicated that you do not want to sell chocolate - you will not receive a box.
- If you are new to our school, or did not return the survey and want to sell chocolate, please email pta@hoonhay.school.nz and let them know and we will happily send a box home. Please remember to include your child’s name and room name as well 😀
Some Handy Information:
Each box has 36 slabs in it which are to be sold for $2 each.
- 6 Hokey Pokey
- 6 Creamy Milk
- 6 Almond Gold
- 6 Toasted Coconut
- 12 Peanut Slabs
Something for everyone 🍫
We will have specific morning and afternoon times set up so that money and chocolates can be returned. If you cannot sell all the chocolates, just return the box and the unsold chocolate :)
We really appreciate you getting behind this fundraiser so we can upgrade and replace playgrounds. New classrooms and new look playgrounds :) - perfect combination, almost like a coffee and a toasted coconut slab as a treat.
There will be rewards for those families that sell the most.
We really appreciate your support and look forward to raising lots of money 😀
Lastly - we hope that you were able to spend some time over the holidays reminding your children about the important road safety messages. We have also been going over these in class. We need your help to keep our children safe, and to role model these messages, and keep everyone safe while driving.
Ngā mihi
Lee
