Legends Swimming Sports
A wonderful morning was had by all at Wharenui Pool for our Legends Swimming Sports. Children gave it their best in the pool and really showed the Hoon Hay quality of persistence and did not give up. We were very impressed with the support and encouragement shown by all children to each other. A very vocal crowd kept the children swimming at pace. We had some swimmers from Spreydon School join our event this year. It was nice to be able to offer another school, in our zone, the opportunity for their children to compete. A big thank you to the parents and teachers for their fantastic help on the day. Congratulations to all our children for competing on the day and special recognition to those who collected the 1st, 2nd and 3rd ribbons in their events. Heathcote took the win in the relay. This was a very tight close swimming battle right to the end, requiring a photo finish! But the overall House winner this year went to Sparks with a staggering 16,900 points. That's a lot of good swimming.... Ka pai!
South West Zone Swim Team
Congratulations to the following children who were selected from our swimming sports to represent Hoon Hay School, Te Kura Kōaka, at the South West Zone Swimming Sports. Our Zone Team; Travis F, Blake J, Heath F, Zach N, Natalie L, Eva L, Elsie K, Mia F, Daniel B, Cael D, Cosmo N, Naomi T, Mackenzie G and Serena P. The team competed at Jellie Park Pool, last Friday morning, with some very pleasing results. Our new blue HHS swim caps, kindly organised by our PTA, looked speedy in the lanes.
Well done children - you swam your best and it was great to see you enjoying yourselves.
Canterbury Primary Schools Duathlon
Good luck to the following children; Cael D, Liam M, Liam V, Harry D, Bronson H, Zoe S, Naomi T, Eadie P, Zoe G, Zach N, Lachlan R and Blake J. These children will be competing out at Ruapuna Speedway at the Canterbury Primary Schools Duathlon on Monday 25 March. The children are all keen and have been training hard over the last month. The event involves a 2km run, followed by a 6km bike ride and then another 1km run, so children need to be super fit to take part. We are hoping for sunshine on the day and some fast results.
