Revised plan for drop off and pick ups during Alert Level 2 (click for more)

@ Admin —

Kia ora everyone,

We are so looking forward to Monday, and welcoming your children back to Hoon Hay, Te Kura Kōaka 😍

We have revised the plan for the drop off and picks up which we hope is more workable :-) whilst still playing it safe. The key message is that if your child can come into school and leave the school by themselves - they should. If they normally walk into school with their siblings, they can also continue to do this.

To avoid loads of form filling out we have thought of another option that we hope will work for our youngest children and help alleviate congestion.

Mighty Minnows - drop off and pick up.

  • Parents can bring their children into the back of the Mighty Minnows classroom block (by the road) area and watch their children be welcomed by staff and go into their rooms via the back doors of the Mighty Minnows block.

  • For pick up, whānau can meet on this grassed area (socially distancing, of course) and teachers will be watching from the back doors and will send your child out to meet you. You can use either the main gate or the side gate entrance from the staff car park to gain access.
  • You are welcome to pick your child up from 2:45pm onwards:) - we will be watching.
  • The Mighty Minnows staff will ensure that your child has everything - backpack, sweatshirts, scooters, etc.

Room 2 and 3

  • Our new entrants and their parents (room 2 and 3) can come into the school grounds and into the classroom to be with their children (no change to normal practice) and again to pick them up. Staff will have contact tracing forms in their rooms.

Team Harakeke

  • There will be staff members at each gate to greet children in the morning. If children are unable to come into the school grounds by themselves, then parents can come in and support them - and fill in contact tracing forms.
  • Scooters are to be brought to the classrooms in the morning to avoid scooter-shed congestion.
  • Pick up - teachers will ensure that a staff member accompanies class groups to the correct gate to meet you. Please make sure your child knows which gate you will be collecting them from.
  • Teachers will ensure children have packed their bags correctly with drink bottles and sweatshirts, etc.
  • If you or your child is worried about pick up, come into the school and fill out the form.

Everyone

  • Scooters - If your child scooters to school they will take their scooter to the classroom at the beginning of the day. This avoids the scooter shed congestion. Teachers will ensure that all children have their scooter with them, ready to go, at the end of the day.
  • If your child usually gets themselves (and siblings) to and from school without a parent - that is fine:)
  • If your child is in Legends or Team Koru - remind them where expected pick up is and what gate to exit from.
  • If plans go awry or your child is confused and forgets what you told them in the morning - we will be here. We will look after them and contact you for clarification.
  • Ring the school if your plans change.

If your child requires you to support them in the classroom at drop off (regardless of their age), you can! However, you will need to fill out the contact tracing form in your child’s classroom and it would be even better if you supplied your own pen. If you or your child is worried about pick up - you can also come in and again contact tracing forms need to be filled out.

Fingers crossed the weather is kind as we get into our new groove:) We are super excited about being back to business as usual and can’t wait to be face to face and share in the gorgeousness of your children 😍
