GOOD LUCK - GO HOON HAY!!!

Football Skills

Our Mighty Minnows and Team Koru classes have been getting the chance to try some football skills, while the sun shines.  Thanks to Fernando Lambert and Tony Harvey from Christchurch United FC giving their time to our school, to encourage the love of the game.  If your child is interested in more football opportunities outside of school, check out their website www.cufc.co.nz.   Have a look below at some photos in action, with Room 12 and 3.  Children from room 3 have only just begun school and are already embracing the fun sporting activities on offer here at Hoon Hay.

Ice Skating Medal Haul

Wow, Luke S (pictured below) has had a busy July holiday collecting medals in speed skating.  In week 1, Luke competed in the Dunedin Championships and came away with 9 medals! He won gold in the U15 relay, plus 5 silvers and 3 bronzes in various individual distances in U12 & U15 boys.  In week 2,  he competed at the NZ South Island Championships. He won overall silver in U12 boys & bronze in U15 boys, with 5 personal best times in individual distances.  These amazing results don't just happen, they take a lot of time, hard training and dedication ....Way to go Luke!   and best wishes for the NZ National Championships coming up in September and the Australian Open in October.

Congratulations to Bronson H being selected for Rugby League U9 Canterbury Reps - way to go Bronson!
