Keeping Active in Isolation
Some easy ideas to keep the whole family moving at home 🏠
It is important for everyone both physically and mentally to keep moving while in self isolation, either inside or outside. Here are some easy challenges the children can have the whole family doing on a daily basis.
1. Star jumps
2. Sit ups or crunchies (not the chocolate bar kind)
3. Lunges
4. Burpees
5. Planking
6. Skipping or jogging on the spot.
Start slowly and increase the amount or time daily.
On a nice day take the challenges outside, stay active, get some fresh air each day;
- Play follow the leader making up different moves as you go
- Throw a frisbee in the backyard
- Kick a soccer ball around
- Throw, catch or roll a ball
- Design an obstacle course
- Swingball, hula hoop, petanque
- Go on a bear hunt in your neighbourhood
Use your imagination and make up games - play some music and get the children to teach you our school jump jam routines
The next weeks are going to prove very different for all of us. Please take care of yourself and your whānau. Be kind and keep active.
